Industry Plant by Iann Dior
Iann Dior, a very young singer and rapper releases his debut album. Working heavily with Internet Money Records, lots of the production on this album is super similar to some of Juice WRLD’s music when he first came out. The problem is that Iann Dior isn’t doing as much as he did with it, and it just sounds like Juice WRLD in the beta stage. It’s listenable, but it’s nothing to write home about. “Darkside” is a great pop rock track, Trippie Redd and Iann mesh well on “Gone Girl”, and Phem steals the show and on “Searching”. One of favorites has to go to “Flowers”, the melodic guitar is gorgeous and the melodies Iann brings on here is catchy as hell. “Stay For a While” is excellent, most likely the best track here. It closes the album off great- the high notes are great and the lyrics are really endearing. On the downside, before this track there is a huge lull in the track list, where it feels like the songs are forgettable and just melt into each other with how similar they are. “Needed” is utterly pointless. But the worst song on this album is “Problems”. I find this track unbearable. It’s so boring. Overall, the album is just pretty okay. There are some really bad moments, but they’re outnumbered by great moments.. by a small margin.
STRONG 5 to a LIGHT 6.
